Hello my friends,
I am still alive and well ;) Life is crazy busy over here but I just wanted to pop in and share some photos from a vacation we took to Florida earlier this year.
We enjoyed relaxing at the beach, visiting one of our old neighbors, and going to the orange orchard.
One of our favorite things was kayaking through the mangrove tunnels and marveling at God’s creativity!
Lily and I made this car organizer for her goodies before we left.
Our trip to Nicaragua was one of the most exhausting weeks of my life, but I’m really glad I went. Seeing Brittany again was the best! I spent every possible minute with her.
We got to share a dorm room and work together each day. I enjoyed meeting the children she has fallen in love with. Watching her work and teach and love on the little kids at Taellor's House was priceless.
One of Brittany’s favorite places to do volunteer work is the Nicaragua dump. She has made friends with a lot of the children that live there and enjoys showing Jesus’ love to them.
I felt completely overwhelmed when I got there and saw all the little children coming to greet us. The living conditions are unbelievable. Trash is literally everywhere!
I looked around and thought, “where is God in this?” Immediately I knew the answer. He is in Brittany and all the other missionaries that are bringing them HOPE. Serving them food and teaching them about Jesus. The HOPE of the world.
Getting to be with Brittany on her 19th birthday was such a gift. The director at Taellor's House surprised Brittany and I by dropping us off at a cute lunch place so we could have a little date! We had yummy crepes and went next door for ice cream. It was the loveliest surprise!
The group we went to Nicaragua with spent the week building tiny homes for very poor families. Everyone in our group was assigned a family to care for and bring gifts to. My family had a six year old girl and one of my favorite memories is of her running to hug me with the biggest smile on her face.
We spent our last day at a Nicaraguan market shopping for gifts to bring home to our kids and visiting the Laguna - a beautiful lake and resort.
Brittany has already been serving in Nicaragua for 176 days. She is loving it! I know she is being a blessing and changing lives and that fills me with peace and joy. I am so grateful for her beautiful heart and her desire to follow wherever God leads.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” Romans 10:15
A few weeks ago Kayla got up early to mow our yard. Once she finished, she parked the mower in the shed and didn’t realize it wasn't pulled in all the way. By the time she realized it was rolling toward her, it was too late. It snapped her femur right in two!
It is amazing to me how God was watching out for us!
I heard Kayla outside screaming right after her accident. She had just prayed someone would hear her and around that same time I turned off my noise maker.
My husband was at work, but my parents were able to come right over. Seeing Kayla in so much pain had us all in tears. We were getting ready to try loading her in the car when our next door neighbor got home. He’s a former paramedic and knew that moving her with a broken femur could sever an artery. What a blessing he came when he did!
We found out later that our neighbor has been struggling in his faith and he feels like God used Kayla’s accident to bring him back to God. When he came over Kayla was screaming and hyperventilating and as he talked to her she calmed down and listened to him. He felt like God was saying, “I want you to trust Me, just like Kayla is trusting you.”
“We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” Romans 8:28
Our son, Matt, got engaged!!!
We have been praying for his future wife since he was tiny and God answered our prayers by bringing Jerusha into his life. She is a true gem, beautiful inside and out, and her love for Jesus is evident to all around her. She fits into our family so perfectly. We absolutely love her.
I am so happy that my sister in law was there to capture this special moment! You can see more of her incredible work here.
I will be back soon to tell you about our time in Nicaragua :)
